Organization Structure

Trottin-Trottinette Preschool and Daycare is a non-profit society.  A Board of Directors formed by volunteer parents operate the preschool with the assistance of the director of Trottin-Trottinette.  A parent orientation meeting is held in late September along with the Annual General Meeting of the Society.  At that time parents are asked to volunteer to serve on the Board of Directors either as a member of the Executive Committee or as a Director at large.  Thereafter, monthly meetings are held at the preschool in the evening and all parents are welcome to attend.

In 2006 Trottin-Trottinette obtained a Charitable Society status. Donations can be accepted and tax reciepts can be issued.

If you require additional information, please contact us at 985-7044 and/or leave a message. We will contact you as soon as possible. Please note that the office is open Monday to Friday 1:00pm to 3:30pm.   If these times are not convenient you may either leave a message or make arrangements to meet at another time.

Personnel/Staff

A great deal of effort is put into recruiting francophone teachers. All personnel have received or are receiving early childhood education. All staff are certified in infant/child first aid. Over the years a good working relationship has been established between teachers and administration contributing to the retention of superior quality staff.  We strictly adhere to guidelines dictated by North Shore Health with respect to numbers of students allowed per class and per teacher. A budget is set aside each year for the continuing education of teachers. A number of staff have been with Trottin-Trottinette for over 10 years.

Volunteers and Student Teachers

From time to time Trottin-Trottinette has volunteers and/or student teachers aid with classroom activities. Their primary role is to help with preparation and organization  of materials required for certain acitivities or special events, to read to the children or to accompany the class on field trips.

Background/Criminal Checks

All personnel, student teachers and volunteers ( with the exception of parents of children enrolled at Trottin-Trottinette) must submit a completed Background/Criminal check before being allowed to work in the classroom.

Parent Participation

During the course of the year, Trottin-Trottinette requires the participation of parents in certain activities including; parent-teacher meetings, general annual meeting, fund raising, special committees, class outings, volunter activities and the board of administration. Members on the board of Trottin-Trottinette will be determined at the annual general meeting. Vacant spots will be posted before the annual general meeting at Trottin-Trottinette and communicated by email and mail.

Fund raising is an essential activity to ensure proper functioning of the preschool and to maintian a service with the highest of standards without having to increase fees. With this in mind, each family is expected to participate in at least one fund raising event per year (ex. Car wash, silent auction, Easter chocolate sales, tombola etc.). Families who do not wish to participate in a fund raising activity will be expected to contribute financially in lieu. Fund raising is an important activity and is a requirement for registration at Trottin-Trottinette.

Families who wish to make charitable donations of $20 or more to Trottin-Trottinette will be issued a tax reciept.

Help/Involvement

If you have any spare time and would like to help out with sewing ,cutting, decorating or anything else, please let us know.  Children are very proud when their parents participate in classroom activities.   We encourage involvement at Christmas or on other special occasions such as the year-end picnic.
